This year, we, VENDEN, the Latvian manufacturer of spring and natural mineral water, continue the campaign started several years ago by planting trees in Ventspils, as well. Such a gift to the cities of Latvia is a tradition that VENDEN launched already in 2020, each time choosing in public vote a city where one of the company’s branches is located. As part of this campaign, Riga, Daugavpils, Cesis and Jelgava have already been greened, but this year the alley in Ventspils has been renovated with 15 trees.

Continuing the improvement of the surrounding environment, VENDEN, in cooperation with Ventspils State City Municipal Council and Ventspils Communal Administration, this year, on April 25, supplemented the urban environment with 9 Purple Horse Chestnuts (Aesculus x carnea 'Briotti') and 6 Mountain Maples (Acer pseudoplatanus). Representatives of both VENDEN SIA and Ventspils State City - council chairman Janis Vitolins, the 1^st Deputy Chairman for cooperation matters Guntis Blumbergs, the Deputy Chairman Aigo Gutmanis and the Deputy Dzidzis Osenieks, as well as Andris Kausenieks, the Director of the municipal authority Ventspils Communal Administration - took part in the event. Representatives of VENDEN and Ventspils State City Municipality, as well as employees of the Ventspils Improvement Complex, the landscape architect Katrina Diana Apfelbauma and the park gardener Aiva Asnevica were involved in the planting work. Also, the administration of Ventspils State Gymnasium No. 1 and representatives of the student council actively participated in the process. The residents of the city also gladly helped to restore the Kuldigas Street alley and its nearby greenery.

At the beginning of the event, the Deputy Chairman of the City Council, Aigo Gutmanis, addressed the gathering, thanking VENDEN for the gift to the city and emphasizing how important it is not only to create greenery in the city, but also to renew it regularly, as the lifespan of a tree is about 100 years.

Jelena Kozlova, VENDEN’s Marketing Director, also expressed her gratitude to Ventspils State City Municipality and Ventspils Communal Administration for cooperation within this year’s project and the designated place for tree planting. “We are truly happy that for the fifth year in a row VENDEN has the opportunity to help to green one of the cities of Latvia, creating beautiful urban greenery with our joint efforts. We hope that the newly planted trees will perfectly fit into the already existing horse chestnut alley and from now on will delight not only the residents of Ventspils, but also the city’s guests!”

For the first time, the VENDEN tree planting campaign took place in Riga in 2020, when the Ebelmuiža park in Ziepniekkalns was supplemented with 15 dendrologically rare trees. In 2021, Daugavpils was chosen in an online vote, where the Esplanade Park was greened with ten specially selected and magnificent trees, and in 2022, 12 Dutch lindens were planted in Cesis, thus complementing the already existing greenery in the Gauja National Park area along the VENDEN health path and on Cirulisu street nearby from the VENDEN factory. On the other hand, last year, in 2023, in cooperation with the municipality of Jelgava, 10 country maples were planted on the promenade between the swimming area and the heart bird sculpture.

In 2025, VENDEN will donate trees to Liepaja. It will be the last of the six cities where VENDEN branches are located, thus concluding the originally launched campaign, greening these cities, however, we plan to plant trees in the future as well.
